Sydney friends loved Korean charcoal BBQ, and unlike the home BBQ scenes seen in Korean entertainment, BBQ tables are rarely used at home in reality.
BBQ is a meal eaten on special occasions rather than every day, and tables with braziers are mainly used in Korean BBQ restaurants.
Korean entertainment often stages exaggerated scenes for entertainment purposes, so it's important to be aware that it may differ from real life.
When I lived in Sydney, my friends loved Korean food, so we went out often.
Especially, Korean charcoal BBQ was the most popular.
Open the round cover in the middle and put charcoal in to grill the meat
After going to a few Korean BBQ restaurants together, I had a chance to invite them to my house for dinner. One of my friends asked me why my dining table was just a normal table.
He said that he thought Korean people would have a BBQ table like the ones in restaurants at home every day... haha.
He had seen Korean variety shows where they cooked BBQ at home, and the tables looked similar to those in restaurants.
Maybe it looked something like this?
Seated BBQ table
I think variety shows use such materials for entertainment purposes and often exaggerate.
However, in reality, I've never seen anyone using such a table at home, especially indoors. Haha.
Someone who is really passionate about BBQ might use such a table, but even then, the brazier in the middle usually uses electricity or butane gas instead of charcoal.
In conclusion...
BBQ is mostly a special occasion meal rather than an everyday menu,
and tables with a brazier in the middle are exclusively for Korean BBQ restaurants. :)
